Last Super Bowl Entry, (For me, at least) I Promise

The Big Game is over.  Finally.  I was glad we got a great game.  Like I said in our group post earlier this week, I was happy that Brady got his 4th ring.

That all said, I was a little disappointed.   Kinda like when  your parents are disappointed in you because you made a bad decision or something.  Why, you ask?   What you’re not hearing a lot about is the fight at the end of the game.  Now, I get it.  Emotions run high, its the Super Bowl, you don’t want to lose.  And that was a really tough ending to the game for the Seahawks.  But the game didn’t need to have a huge brawl.  And had it been the Lions, it’s all we’d be hearing about.  But that point is neither here nor there.

I’m just disappointed because this is Seattle.  And I do like the Seahawks.  I do.  I would have been just as happy had they won as well.  Seattle prides themselves on working together.  On being a team.  On playing for each other.  It’s why Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, and Richard Sherman all played with significant injuries.  It’s also why people got mad when Brandon Browner said he would go after Sherm.  Because they are a close nit bunch.   Before the game, I saw an interview with the Legion of Boom.  They were discussing how fierce their defense was, and how they play.  They also stated that if someone beats The LOB that they will have pulled a remarkable feat, and they will just tip their hats to their opponent.  And if that’s tipping their hats, I’d hate to see what they do when they really get beat.

I was also disappointed by the fact that Seattle Fans want Bevell fired.

Yes, it was a bad decision.  But I hardly think that it is a fireable offense.   At least not right now.  I think that if his play calling becomes questionable as time goes on, then yes.  But our friends over at numberFire.com have some good numbers on the Seattle offense under Bevell, and why he shouldn’t be fired.  And, it’d be hard for the Seahawks to continue to be dominant with a new DC and OC.

In the end,  Bill Belichick outcoached Pete Carroll.  The Legion of Boom and the rest of Seattle’s defense couldn’t stop Tom Brady and the Patriots from scoring 14 unanswered 4th quarter points.   And the better team won.   And for that, I tip my hat.
